The desk

Careers

A small Madrid practice hiring people who will open the page. Outreach, Spanish editorial, and publisher research — not a quota factory with a careers microsite.

From the editor

We hire people who will open the page. Everything else is trainable. If you want a role where the spreadsheet is the work, this is the wrong desk.

The work

An agency job, without the agency fiction

Most link-building careers pages advertise culture. This one advertises the brief. The practice acquires editorial mentions on Spanish pages. Our Spanish backlink database contains 50,000+ websites, with outreach to thousands of those desks each month. The people who do that work are named on the team page.

A good hire here already knows the difference between a pitch and a blast, between a Spanish page and a translated one, and between a metric on a domain and a neighbourhood a sceptical editor would accept. We will teach you the file. We will not teach you to pretend.

The desk is small on purpose. Correspondence is email. Hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00–18:00 Madrid time. Pay is in euros, discussed once we know the role and the city — not printed as a slogan.

How the desk runs

What you are walking into

A named desk

Campaigns are planned, pitched, and reviewed by the people on the team page. You will not be a seat in a 200-person ‘delivery centre’.

Madrid hours

Monday to Friday, 9:00–18:00 Madrid. Remote is possible when the work and the overlap are real. Email is the channel.

Two languages

Pitches go out in the language of the desk we are talking to. Client correspondence is English or Spanish as the brief requires. Translation as a workflow is not the job.

The page is the test

Metrics travel with the URL because we keep the file current. They do not replace opening it. If you want a role where the spreadsheet is the work, this is the wrong desk.

03 listed · Madrid

  1. 01 · Outreach

    Outreach specialist

    Full-time

Madrid, or remote on Madrid hours

    Apply for this role

The desk writes to named editors, in Spanish. Our link building database includes over 50,000 Spanish websites. The job is the pitch, the follow-up, and the judgment to stop when the page is wrong.

    You will

    • Read the archive before you write. A pitch that could go to any site does not go to any site here.
    • Contact publishers drawn from the Spanish file — thousands of conversations a month across the desk, still written one editor at a time.
    • Keep a campaign honest: live URL, surrounding copy, destination, and whether the sentence needed the citation.
    • Work in Spanish with editors and in English with the people who hired us.

    You bring

    • Native or near-native Spanish, and English that can hold a client thread without theatre.
    • A record of editorial outreach, digital PR, or publisher relations — not a history of blasting lists.
    • The patience to open a page and the nerve to decline it.
    • Comfort with a small desk. There is no ladder of titles to hide in.
  2. 02 · Editorial

    Editorial writer

    Full-time or contract

Madrid, or remote on Madrid hours

    Apply for this role

Guest articles and contributed pieces that a Spanish editor can run without wincing. The sentence has to belong on that page. Machine-translated English is not the brief.

    You will

    • Write in Spanish for the publication, not for a keyword sheet.
    • Take a source, a product, or an expert view and make it useful in the piece — not a paragraph of ads with a link at the end.
    • Work with Marta’s editorial standard: if the host page would not publish it unsigned, it is not done.
    • Revise against the live neighbourhood. A finance desk and a parenting magazine are not the same Spanish.

    You bring

    • Native Spanish, with a journalism or long-form trade-press background.
    • English strong enough to take a brief and ask the right question back.
    • Clips we can open. A portfolio of ‘SEO blogs’ with no byline is not a clip.
    • Editorial vanity: you would rather kill a sentence than let it ship ugly.
  3. 03 · The file

    Publisher researcher

    Full-time

Madrid, or remote on Madrid hours

    Apply for this role

Access more than 50,000 Spanish sites across a wide range of industries — a map, not a catalogue of slots. Someone has to keep it current, read the archive, and decide what still belongs in the neighbourhood.

    You will

    • Prospect and review Spanish publishers across Spain and Latin America, country by country.
    • Keep Ahrefs DR and traffic, Moz DA, and Majestic TF current — then still open the page.
    • Flag neighbourhoods that have gone bad: junk drawers, language mismatches, pages nobody would read.
    • Brief outreach with a short note on why a title is in scope, not a dump of domains.

    You bring

    • Spanish and English. You will be reading both.
    • Experience in link prospecting, publisher research, or investigative SEO.
    • Comfort with Ahrefs, Moz, and Majestic as filing columns, not as the decision.
    • A bias toward fewer, better rows.

Write anyway

How we hire, without the theatre

  1. You write

The form, or an email to hr@spanishlinkbuilding.com with your CV. A letter, a URL to work we can open, and the role.

  2. We read

If the letter could have been sent to any agency, it will be treated that way. Specific beats volume. We reply when there is a conversation worth having.

  3. A conversation

English or Spanish. About pages you have shipped, editors you have written to, and what you would refuse. Not a bank of HR questions.

  4. A short paid sample

A pitch, a page review, or a piece of Spanish copy — paid, scoped, and close to the actual work. We do not ask for a free test.

Questions we hear first

The practice is based in Madrid. Remote is possible for people who can keep Madrid hours and already work in Spanish-speaking markets. If you need a visa sponsored from another continent with no overlap, that is not a fit we can invent.
